So we compromised with the insurance companies at every turn, and now we learn they (gasp!) weren't negotiating in good faith and are joining forces with the Republicans and their junior varsity to overturn the legislation that was written to keep them happy:
Also, from the same source cited in Madrak’s post, one of the groups that heatlh insurers are funding is focusing on the Tea Party Caucus, originally formed by Rep. Michele Bachmann [R-MO]. Probably her goal at the time she founded it in July. Emphasis mine.
Health insurance companies, after funding tens of millions of dollars in attack ads aimed to kill health reform, are now funding Republican candidates promising to repeal or water-down the bill. A report today notes that insurance companies have massively shifted their campaign giving to Republicans, and that health professionals have “quietly become the biggest supporters of the nascent Tea Party Caucus” with donations of “more than $2.7 million to Tea Party Caucus members.
