In a journal entry in 1928, Ayn Rand quoted child killer, William Edward Hickman, who said “What is good for me is right,”. Her response to Hickman in her journal was both enthusiastic and telling:
The best and strongest expression of a real man's psychology I have heard,
Rand’s “hero” in her very popular [with the Right Wing] book, ‘Atlas Shrugged’ was based on the character of William Edward Hickman.
