Morning Quote: Jane Hamsher Accuses Democrats of “trying to co-opt” the Occupy Wall Street Movement

Jane Hamsher is known to be a ratfucker. More, I strongly believe that Jane Hamsher is a Republican operative, and has been working against Democrats since at least 2009.

And now, Jane Hamsher has once again jumped the proverbial shark in her accusations that Van Jones, Move On and the Democratic Party are trying to “co-opt the energy” of OWS:

ALYONA: So, how do you get it to the point where all these groups can really unify?

JANE HAMSHER: Well, I don't think you want them unified. In fact, I think one of the silliest things to happen in the past few days is the Move On-Van Jones attempt to co-opt the energy…ah, the anger at the banks on behalf of the Democratic Party.

I'm sorry, but when you've had control of the Federal government for the past three years, it's really kind of ribald to suggest that this is all the Republicans fault and that somehow you're entitled to co-opt this energy.

First of all, I sincerely doubt that there is a single Republican in the #OccupyWallStreet movement. Republicans love the banks. Republicans love big business.

Secondly, WHO has had “control of the Federal government” for the past three years, Jane? Do you not read? Can you not comprehend the term “filibuster”? Do you not remember 2010 when you and many of your acolytes decided to sit out the damn vote, which then cost us the House??

Third, Jane, it is mostly the fault of the Republican Party. It is they who have sold their souls to the corporations. It is the rise of the far right wing which has brought us to this impasse over the past thirty years.

Opportunist Arianna Huffington Reverts to True Colors

Well, now she’s done it.

As if many of us haven’t been saying for years that Huffington is a fake  Progressive, an opportunist in it for the money and fame, she had to go and prove us right, or at least make us feel like we were dead on right.

Arianna Huffington, formerly the Queen of the Liberal Political Kingdom online, has hired Conservative ideologue Andrew Breitbart, the same guy who spends so much of his time colluding with known con artist James O’Keefe, worked as an editor for the notorious Matt Drudge, worked for Ms. Huffington previously as a researcher, and helped her to launch The Huffington Post.

She not only hired him, she allowed him to use her site, her front page, to defend James O’Keefe’s latest scam video which targets NPR, a scam which resulted in a vote by the 112th Wingnut Congress to defund NPR.

Big news. But we want to talk about something else. Andrew Breitbart is now blogging for Huffington Post. Here’s the first graph of his very first post.

The latest James O’Keefe success story against NPR has taken a predictable pattern — panicked press releases and firings, followed by denunciation of O’Keefe in a belated attempt to discredit him. Naturally, conservatives are crowing about it, but I wanted to give a little perspective to those Huffington Post readers — whatever your political stripe — who share my passion for free speech, honest debate, and fairness in the media.

Yes, not only is the conservative agitator now blogging on the formerly iconographic liberal website, he’s using the site to credit his propensity for “honest debate.”

Honest like taking out-of-context videos of Shirley Sherrod, putting them online and–knowingly mind you–falsely accusing her of being a racist?

Et tu, HuffPo?

Huffington, like one of her many contributors, Jane Hamsher, is an opportunist.

Like Huffington, Hamsher has also teamed up with a much despised Right Wing ideologue, Grover Norquist, and like Huffington, she has spent much of the first two years of the Obama presidency on various television shows, as well as on her website, shrieking about how President Obama is just not ever good enough. All that shrieking, as well as the blatant encouragement by Hamsher’s drones to sit out the election, contributed much to our huge losses in November 2010.

I don’t know about you, but at this point, I am unwilling to give Arianna Huffington and/or the right-leaning AOL, any more clicks than I absolutely have to.

She is so over.

Morning Quote: Thanks, Firebaggers, From Michigan

The Firebagging opportunists spent two years shrieking endlessly, ostensibly   because President Obama didn’t bend down and tie their shoelaces for them.

Then they told Democrats not to vote. Gotta make a point, they said.

In Michigan, which is now essentially a dictatorship, 2 million fewer Democrats voted in 2010 as opposed to 2008. 2 million. And now, we are in deep, deep trouble thanks to the teabagging Republicans that were voted in to office in 2010, and we owe that partially, maybe even primarily, to the Firebaggers.

Fellow Michigander, Eclectablog, rags on Ed Schultz, who makes a fine whipping boy for that group, emphasis mine:

Ed Schultz has been on fire on MSNBC these past three weeks, hasn't he? Nothing like pure, unadulterated union-busting by Republicans to get old Ed fired up and ready to go. A let's not pretend Ed didn't have a plan for this all along, right? Remember this from him last fall?

[ED SCHULTZ] And I’m announcing today, I’m not going to vote in the midterms. I’m not going to do it. You can say it’s un-American. No, it’s rather revolutionary is what it is. I’m at that point. I’m checking out. I’m checking out of the Democrats because they are proving to me that they don’t know how to handle these big babies over on the right that say no. You know what you do? You get in the driver’s seat, you hit the throttle, and you run over them.

Un-American? Hell no, Ed! That's as American as it gets. Hell, it's practically Republican, it's so American! Create a problem that you yourself can benefit from. Help make sure the GOP takes control by helping suppress the Democratic vote then watch your rating positively SOAR when you get to be on television almost non-stop when they start crushing unions like cockroaches.

Man, you sure showed them, Ed. Obama has really got to be feeling this now, what with all those union people getting crushed and taxes being cut on the backs of the poor and the elderly.

Happy NOW, Firebaggers? And yeah, I am talking to Hamsher, Greenwald, et al.

And here’s the thing: by claiming that there’s a huge scandal when nothing worse happened than insufficient care about disclosure, Greenwald and the people at FDL are actually reducing our ability to call foul on real corruption. After all, if everything is a scandal, nothing is a scandal. One of these days, perhaps soon, we’ll have a genuinely corrupt administration again — but when whistleblowers try to call attention to the misdeeds, you can be sure that there will be claims that “even liberals said that Obama did things just as bad or worse”.

- UPDATE: 18-29: 53/38

- UPDATE 2: NBC’s Ana Maria Arumi notes that in the 2010 midterm exit polls, voters 18-29 said they approved of the president’s job by a 62/38 margin, which is close to how they voted in 2008 — 66/32

- Women: 52/43

- 18-34: 49/43
