Morning Quote: Glenn Greenwald

Salon.com blogger, Not-a-Liberal-a-Libertarian, Glenn Greenwald on Twitter yesterday, told prominent Obama supporter, @AngryBlackLady [Imani Gandy], that  she and other Obama supporters (or “Obots” or “cultists” as he likes to call us) would support anything President Obama did, including assassination and rape.

Dr. Dawg: “ @AngryBlackLady @g_p_g @ggreenwald @emptywheel ABL, Obama could rape a nun live on NBC and you'd say we weren't seeing what we were seeing.”

No - she'd [AngryBlackLady] say it was justified and noble- that he only did it to teach us about the evils of rape. ”

When Twitter exploded with recriminations against Greenwald’s use of a rape metaphor to criticize Obama supporters, Greenwald doubled down with this tweet:

“ @jennpozner @JamilSmith It is NOT a "rape metaphor": it's a statement they they'd defend ANY evil: assassinations, child-killings: EVEN rape. ”

Got it? According to Salon.com head writer, Glenn Greenwald, if you are a supporter of President Obama, you are a defender of any and all evil in the world including rape, assassinations, and child killings.

Ron Paul is not to the left of President Obama on anything other than the legalization of marijuana, and that statement is especially true when it comes to civil liberties. When asked to name exactly which civil liberties he meant when he said “many civil liberties”, Greenwald did not (could not) name one.

Morning Quote: Thanks, Firebaggers, From Michigan

The Firebagging opportunists spent two years shrieking endlessly, ostensibly   because President Obama didn’t bend down and tie their shoelaces for them.

Then they told Democrats not to vote. Gotta make a point, they said.

In Michigan, which is now essentially a dictatorship, 2 million fewer Democrats voted in 2010 as opposed to 2008. 2 million. And now, we are in deep, deep trouble thanks to the teabagging Republicans that were voted in to office in 2010, and we owe that partially, maybe even primarily, to the Firebaggers.

Fellow Michigander, Eclectablog, rags on Ed Schultz, who makes a fine whipping boy for that group, emphasis mine:

Ed Schultz has been on fire on MSNBC these past three weeks, hasn't he? Nothing like pure, unadulterated union-busting by Republicans to get old Ed fired up and ready to go. A let's not pretend Ed didn't have a plan for this all along, right? Remember this from him last fall?

[ED SCHULTZ] And I’m announcing today, I’m not going to vote in the midterms. I’m not going to do it. You can say it’s un-American. No, it’s rather revolutionary is what it is. I’m at that point. I’m checking out. I’m checking out of the Democrats because they are proving to me that they don’t know how to handle these big babies over on the right that say no. You know what you do? You get in the driver’s seat, you hit the throttle, and you run over them.

Un-American? Hell no, Ed! That's as American as it gets. Hell, it's practically Republican, it's so American! Create a problem that you yourself can benefit from. Help make sure the GOP takes control by helping suppress the Democratic vote then watch your rating positively SOAR when you get to be on television almost non-stop when they start crushing unions like cockroaches.

Man, you sure showed them, Ed. Obama has really got to be feeling this now, what with all those union people getting crushed and taxes being cut on the backs of the poor and the elderly.

Happy NOW, Firebaggers? And yeah, I am talking to Hamsher, Greenwald, et al.

Paul Krugman flashback to January 2010.Krugman is referring to Firebaggers, Glenn Greenwald and Jane Hamsher (FDL), giving them a little sorely needed lecture about screaming “FIRE” all the time in reference to the Obama administration:

And here’s the thing: by claiming that there’s a huge scandal when nothing worse happened than insufficient care about disclosure, Greenwald and the people at FDL are actually reducing our ability to call foul on real corruption. After all, if everything is a scandal, nothing is a scandal. One of these days, perhaps soon, we’ll have a genuinely corrupt administration again — but when whistleblowers try to call attention to the misdeeds, you can be sure that there will be claims that “even liberals said that Obama did things just as bad or worse”.

Dick of the Day: Glenn Greenwald Compares Liberal Blogger to a Nazi on Twitter

Seriously.

Disclosure: I am not a fan of Glenn Greenwald. In point of fact, I can’t stand the man. He and Jane Hamsher are on my all-time list of least favorite people.

But, I normally would not blog about either of them. They infuriate me, but they don’t hold any interest for me, and I tend to see them in the same light that I do the GOP. Maybe that’s because they are well known for collaborating with Grover Norquist.

Anyway, on to my point. Glenn Greenwald posted his asinine, nasty tweet yesterday, comparing a pro-Obama blogger to Hitler’s favorite Nazi cinematographer, Leni Riefenstahl. Blackwater Dog is the blog of former Kos diarist, BWD, who was hounded out of DailyKos. I don’t know the details, but I think it’s safe to presume that it was because she is pro-Obama, and Kos has become more and more Firebagger-like.

Nevertheless, Greenwald is utterly out of line, and deserves censure, that of course will not come from his seething anti-Obama groupies.

To them I say that Greenwald is the pied piper of Democratic ruin, leading the way only to failure and loss of any hope for a realization of progressive ideals in the next 20 years. Supporting Greenwald, et al, is working against your own best interests.

Alternatively, learn to filter. The truth is out there. But, you won’t find it on Glenn Greenwald’s site, nor on FireDogLake.They're much too busy pouting because they "lost their seat at the table" thanks to their vindictive ranting.
